Jo Spiers

Ambassador

Jo is a dedicated advocate for education, empowerment, and recovery. A survivor of domestic abuse herself, she brings both lived experience and professional expertise to her role as an Ambassador for Domestic Abuse Education. With a background in Human Resources and Employment Law, Jo is a former lecturer and a long-time volunteer for several charities supporting vulnerable individuals and communities.

“Looking back, I truly believe the support I received from my workplace is what got me through, and it may well have saved my life. They provided a safe, secure environment, truly understood what I needed, and stood by me every step of the way.”

“Becoming an ambassador is more than a role, it’s a chance to spread understanding. As someone who has lived through domestic abuse and experienced, as a victim, the outdated approach of the legal system in Scotland, I understand the silence, the shame, and the strength it takes to rebuild. My goal is to challenge myths, raise awareness, and give others the hope and tools they need to move forward. Education is power and with that power, we can change lives.”
